21% of Americans Now Have at Least One Tattoo . . . Up From 14% in 2008

We've reached the point where NOT having a tattoo makes you rebellious.  A new survey found that 21% of Americans have at least one tattoo . . . that's up from 14% in 2008.  The survey also found that 14% of people with tattoos regret them.  People in their 30s are most likely to have tattoos, at 38% . . . and 30% of people say their tattoo makes them feel sexy.

We've reached the point where NOT having a tattoo makes you rebellious.  Harris Interactive just released the results of a new nationwide survey on tattoos.  Here's what they found . . .

 

 

--21% of Americans now have tattoos.  That's up from 14% in 2008.  To put it another way, that's a 50% jump in four years.

 

 

--14% of the people with tattoos say they regret getting them.  That's down from 2008, when it was 16%.

 

 

--People in their 30s are most likely to have tattoos, at 38%.

 

 

--30% of people with a tattoo say it makes them feel SEXY.  25% say it makes them feel rebellious . . . 21% say it makes them feel attractive . . . 21% say it makes them feel strong . . . and 8% say it makes them feel intelligent.

 

 

--Half of the people with a tattoo also have pierced ears.  7% have a different body piercing.
