20th Century Fox has a movie coming out in July called "Neighborhood Watch". And that's causing a marketing nightmare for them at the moment due to the TRAYVON MARTIN shooting in Florida.
--As you've no doubt heard by now, Trayvon was a 17-year-old African-American kid who was shot and killed by a NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH guy while wearing the dreaded shroud of death known as a HOODIE.
--Well, Fox is now pulling posters and a teaser trailer from Florida theaters. They're going to roll out a new marketing plan in a few weeks.
--The funny thing is, the movie is a COMEDY that really has nothing in common with the Trayvon Martin case.
--It stars Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and British comedian Richard Ayoade as dads who form a neighborhood watch as an excuse to get out of the house and away from their families . . . but they end up discovering an alien plot to destroy the Earth.
--The current trailer doesn't reflect that though. It just shows the four guys cruising the neighborhood in a minivan, trying to be all bad-ass. At one point, Jonah even points his finger out the window like a gun and pretends to shoot someone.
--Meanwhile, the poster in question features a neighborhood watch sign with BULLET HOLES in it. There's a perp on the sign with a red line drawn through him. It's supposed to be an ALIEN, but that's not overtly clear from the picture.
