Matthew McConaughey's Next Movie Will Be Rated NC-17

When MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY'S new movie "Killer Joe" hits theaters on July 27th, it will do so with an NC-17 rating.

--The MPAA refused to give it an R-rating because of its violence, graphic sexual content and one rape scene.

--But the distributor decided it likes the movie as-is, so they're not going to try to appease the censors by making any cuts.

--And while that's AWESOME from an artistic standpoint, it means the movie won't have a very wide release.

--"Killer Joe" stars McConaughey as the title character . . . a hit man hired by EMILE HIRSCH to kill his mother for her insurance money.

--It also stars THOMAS HADEN CHURCH and GINA GERSHON.  It was directed by WILLIAM FRIEDKIN . . . the GENIUS who brought you "The Exorcist"and "The French Connection".

--It's already played some festivals, and McConaughey's been getting serious props for his performance.  (--Here's the trailer.)
