"America's Got Talent's" Timothy Poe Now Says He Doesn't Know What's Reality and What Isn't

"America's Got Talent" contestant Timothy Poe says he may be crazy . . . but he didn't lie about his military service . . . intentionally.

(--He's been accused of making up a story about being injured in Afghanistan during his audition.  Initially, he insisted his story was 100% legit . . . but since then, he's backed off and said it might not have happened as he said.)

--In an interview with WFAA-TV . . . out of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas . . . Poe said that he, quote, "really doesn't know right now what's reality and what's not reality."  He adds, quote, "Everything I said, I believe . . . I feel like I'm going crazy."

--He says because of his various injuries and traumas . . . some of which are documented and some aren't . . . he can't remember exactly what happened where and when.  And he's having difficulty figuring it all out.

--When asked if he could understand why some people say he's "embellishing" the truth, Poe said, quote, "Yeah, I can . . . but it's the truth that I know.  It's the truth that I truly think is real."

--The interview lasted 28 minutes, and Poe hardly stuttered at all . . . but he DID when he was asked about the stutter, and the accusations that he faked it.

--He said, quote, "It's really only when I get nervous, or I get upset.  No, [I'm not faking it] . . . when I feel comfortable around people I don't, because I don't have to think about what I'm saying."

--His fiancée said that his stuttering is "off and on," and it "comes and goes."  She said, quote, "He can have a whole conversation without stuttering."

(--Yeah, but this had to be a pretty UN-comfortable interview for Poe . . . even though it seemed to take place in a peaceful field by a road . . . and Poe didn't stutter NEAR as much as he did on the show and in other interviews.)

(--In fact, he barely stuttered at all.  Even though he was SOBBING through a lot of it.)

--Poe apologized over and over again . . . and claimed that he didn't mean to intentionally lie about anything.  He said that he's planning on getting help to sort out his issues because he doesn't, quote, "want to get things confused anymore."

--His future on "America's Got Talent" is still unclear.  There's talk that he gets eliminated in the next round anyway . . . which has already been filmed . . . and that's why NBC doesn't seem too concerned about any of this.

(--You can find raw video of the 28-minute interview on WFAA.com . . . and you can grab highlights from it on Delicious Audio.)

(--By the way, Poe's family has been receiving DEATH THREATS over this.  One moron even walked up to his sister-and-law and told her that they were going to kill her and the whole family.)

The Stuttering Soldier Thinks He's Going Crazy

Stuttering soldier Tim Poe brought a HUGE backlash down on himself last week, for lying about his military service on "America's Got Talent". In an interview with WFAA-TV in Dallas, Tim apologized for misleading people but insisted that he believed everything he said on the show. Here's Tim WITHOUT his stutter, talking about how confused he is right now. (--He seems to accept that the story he told was mostly false, but he says he doesn't know what to think and he feels like he's going crazy. Tim originally appeared on "America's Got Talent" last week and said he had suffered a brain injury from an exploding grenade in Afghanistan. He told the judges that he stuttered because of the injury . . . except when he sang. But the military says he wasn't injured in combat, and even on the show they pointed out that he doesn't stutter all the time. Read more about the interview here.)

Tim Poe Says He Understands Why People Think He's Lying

Poe was asked whether he can understand why people think he's not telling the full truth about his injury. (--He says he understands, but he told the story that he truly thinks it real. But since that story turned out to be false, he's scared because he doesn't know what's real anymore.)

Tim Poe Is Asked If He's Faking His Stutter

A lot of people who know Tim have been saying they've never heard him stutter. Here's how Tim responded when the interviewer came right out and asked if he was faking it. (--He said he wasn't, and a lot of those people saying those things haven't talked to him since his injury. He also said he only stuttered when he got anxious or upset.)

Tim Poe's Fiance Tells Him They're Going to Get Him Help

Tim's fiance Carrie Morris sat with him during the interview, and tried to tell him they would figure out the real truth. But she sounded just as confused as he was. (--She says they'll get him help, and they'll find out what really happened. But she's not much of a smooth talker, to say the least.)
