JUSTIN BIEBER hung up on a radio interview Friday, after the host compared him to JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and made a joke about his mom. (--The interview was with Mojo from "Mojo in the Morning" in Detroit.)
--The host said that when he first heard "Boyfriend", he didn't know who it was . . . and he thought it was Justin Timberlake.
--He said he hoped Justin would take it as a compliment . . . because he thought it demonstrated how his sound had matured. But Justin did NOT take it that way.
--He said, quote, "Man, that's crazy, because our voices sound nothing alike . . . saying I sound like someone else is not really a compliment . . . I definitely want to have my own lane, and not be compared."
--Later, the host asked about Justin's friendship with the guys from ONE DIRECTION, and joked, quote, "Do you worry about HARRY [STYLES] when he's around your mom since it seems that he likes older women?"
--Justin shot back, quote, "I think you should worry about me around your mom, bro." The host responded, quote, "Justin, my mom is dead. So unfortunately, that wouldn't work."
--Apparently, Justin didn't know what to say to that, because he HUNG UP without saying anything else.
--The show tried to re-connect with him, but a rep from his record company said he, quote, "got a little upset with the question, and he probably won't be calling back."
--Justin hasn't commented . . . but that day he did Tweet, quote, "Love u mom."

(--Justin Bieber is probably sick and tired of being compared to Justin Timberlake, and he doesn't have to accept that as a compliment . . . but he did seem overly sensitive about it. The tone of the interview wasn't antagonistic.)
(--As for the joke about his mom, Justin clearly didn't like the question, and probably wasn't sure what to say after his attempt to jab-back was shot down.)
(--Interestingly enough, earlier last week Britain's "Mirror" tabloid claimed SELENA GOMEZ told them, quote, "Both me and Justin still have really hot moms . . .
(--"And Justin was like, 'Harry might have become one of my best buddies, but with his record we need to keep him away from our moms.'")
