LINDSAY LOHAN was arrested shortly after midnight yesterday morning, after she SUPPOSEDLY clipped a pedestrian with her Porsche in New York City, then took off. But surveillance video seems to show that the alleged victim is exaggerating . . . if not outright LYING. Lindsay's publicist says he's confident the man's claims will be proven UNTRUE.

Sunday night, LINDSAY LOHAN Tweeted her frustration that she's spent time in jail for her vehicular mishaps, while AMANDA BYNES has not. And the universe responded by giving Lindsay another visit to police HQ.
--Yesterday morning, Lindsay was ARRESTED for allegedly hitting a pedestrian with her Porsche in a crosswalk in Manhattan, then taking off.
--But it doesn't sound like the incident is quite so cut and dried. Here's what happened . . .
--Lindsay and some friends were planning to hit a nightclub at the Dream Hotel. She was driving down a ramp on the side of the building when she ALLEGEDLY clipped a guy in a crosswalk. This was a little after midnight.
--The guy called the cops, and when Lindsay left the club at 2:30 A.M., she was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. Since the charge was only a misdemeanor, she was booked and released without bail.
--Sources say that as she was being arrested, she was yelling to her friends, quote, "Call my dad! Call my dad!"
--The supposed "victim" was treated at a nearby hospital for alleged LEG INJURIES. He claims he suffered torn tendons, and the pain was so bad they gave him morphine.
--But it sounds like this guy is exaggerating his claim . . . if not completely making it up.
--Surveillance video from the Dream Hotel shows that Lindsay was going REALLY slow. And according to TMZ, when police watched the tape, they couldn't even agree whether her car actually hit the guy.
--As Lindsay continues down the ramp, the tape shows this man with a supposedly injured leg SPRINTING after her. It doesn't appear that he ever confronts her, though.
--Meanwhile, when Lindsay and her two passengers get out of her car, they don't seem to be flustered or aware that anything even happened in that crosswalk.
--For some reason, they get back into the car and leave for a few minutes, before coming back and going into the club.
--The alleged victim also claims that Lindsay, quote, "smelled of alcohol real bad" . . . but police say they don't believe she was drunk. Although they also admit they didn't give her a breathalyzer.
--And other witnesses say Lindsay had just come from a SLASH concert, where she hung out backstage all night. And since Slash is sober, he doesn't allow booze in the backstage area.
--Lindsay told the website HollywoodLife.com, quote, "A paparazzi sat on the hood of my friend's car and they arrested me. It's so absurd, completely unfair and unjust. It's just because it's me . . . it's unfortunate."
--Lindsay's overworked publicist says, quote, "It appears that this is much ado about nothing. We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue."
--And even Slash chimed in, Tweeting, quote, "The situation last night w/Lindsey was a lame paparazzi stunt. She didn't do anything. it's being blown out of proportion."
--Lindsay better hope she skates on this . . . because she's still on probation in her necklace theft case . . . and a hit-and-run would definitely be a violation of that.
