Full Story:
R. KELLY has released the 23rd chapter of his "hip-hopera" "Trapped in the Closet" as a teaser for the next batch, which will be unleashed the day after Thanksgiving.
--Chapter 23 catches us up on what was happening when we left off . . . but it's been five years since Chapters 13 through 22 were released . . . so you're probably going to need to re-watch some of the older episodes to refresh your memory.
--It also hints at what's to come . . . but it's mostly just R. Kelly sitting in a chair, reading an old-looking "Trapped in the Closet" storybook.
--Kelly sings, quote, "Well, if this hasn't taught you nothing else, it's taught you that everybody's got a closet, and their own problems that need solving . . . let me get back to the story, because these next chapters . . . are going to be so crazy."
(--You can find Chapter 23 on IFC.com. The site also has the 22 prior chapters, here. WARNING: Chapter 23 . . . along with most of the earlier chapters . . . has UNCENSORED PROFANITY.)
--It's unclear how many new episodes will premiere on Black Friday . . . but Kelly recently said, quote, "We just shot 20 chapters . . . 'Trapped in the Closet' is forever. I've got, like, a hundred chapters to come."
--The new installments will premiere at 9:00 P.M. on IFC, after a two-hour special featuring the original chapters, "digitally re-mastered." (--Note: Like AMC, IFC is another network that's ticked off at DISH.)
(--"WARNING DISH SUBSCRIBERS: Dish has dropped IFC. If you are a DISH customer, you won't be able to watch "Trapped in the Closet" on TV! Call toll free 855-2-DROP-DISH or go to SwitchFromDish.com.") (???)
(--Or, you can just watch them online like you were going to anyway.)
(--Our take: He's STILL GOT IT! The whole vibe is back . . . the monotonous, dripping-kitchen-sink beat . . . the stream of consciousness storytelling . . . and as usual, everyone spends a TON of time on the phone . . .)
(--The intense, passionate verses relaying phone conversations are back . . . as are the demands asking people how they got this number . . . and people telling other people to hang up the phone. It's pretty great.)
